Couples
We all want to fall AND stay in love. In his book, His Needs, Her Needs renowned psychologist and author, Dr. Willard Harley describes the dynamic between couples as a “love bank.” To quote him, “within each of us is a Love Bank that keeps track of the way each person treats us. Everyone we know has an account and the things they do either deposit or withdraw love units from their accounts.”

Think of the “accounts” labelled with individual needs. A man’s needs are different than those of a woman’s. My job is to guide you and your partner to explore, discover and create the tools that will meet the needs of one another.

You may be wondering what an unmarried couple can expect in pre-marital counseling. In order to establish whether or not you are trully compatible with your partner we will cover the following topics:

• Unspoken expectations
• Gender specific needs
• Roles, responsibilities and decision making
• In-laws
• Communication enhancement
• Conflict resolution
• Finances
• Sex in marriage

After several months of counseling and little progress, we were referred to Invia for couples’ counseling. With Invia’s professional help, almost immediately our marriage took a positive turn, and after being “stuck” for many many months, we were able to move forward. We would highly recommend him.

Invia's direction, guidance and relationship tools gave us the opportunity to make a choice to work toward strengthening our marriage. Our sessions with Invia brought us to the realization that there was hope for us because we were willing to accept the other person's feelings as valid and not as right or wrong. With Invia's help we learned to respect each other and each day it gets easier and easier. (couple; Sunnyvale, CA)
